Network Administrator

Job Summary:

 We seek a skilled and dedicated Network Administrator to join our nonprofit organization. As a Network Administrator, you will manage and maintain our organization’s computer networks, ensuring optimal performance and security. Your role will involve the following:

  • Configuring and troubleshooting network devices.

  • Monitoring network activity.

  • Providing technical support to our staff.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, install, configure, and maintain the organization’s computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks.

  2. Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement necessary solutions to ensure network stability and reliability.

  3. Troubleshoot network problems and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime and interruptions to operations.

  4. Maintain network security by implementing appropriate measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.

  5. Manage network user accounts and permissions, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

  6. Collaborate with other IT team members to develop and implement network infrastructure upgrades and enhancements.

  7. Conduct regular network audits to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary optimizations.

  8. Provide technical support and assistance to staff members regarding network connectivity, hardware, and software issues.

  9. Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and future use.

  10. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in network administration and recommend appropriate advancements for the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. Proven experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit or small organization setting.

  3. Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and subnetting.

  4. Experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

  5. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and software to detect and resolve network issues.

  6. Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.

  7. Proficiency in configuring and managing Windows and Linux operating systems.

  8. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve network-related problems.

  9. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff members and explain technical concepts in non-technical terms.

  10. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a dynamic work environment.
