Teach high school and university students core and practical concepts in database management, data analysis, and visualization.
Deliver the course through two structured modules:
Module 1: Database Management with PostgreSQL
Guide students from database creation to advanced SQL queries, including table design, data manipulation, joins, filtering, aggregation, and query optimization basics.
Teach students how to import and export data using CSV files and apply SQL to real-world datasets.
Module 2: Data Analysis & Visualization with Tableau
Introduce students to data literacy, data preparation, data processing, and analytical thinking.
Teach students how to create basic to advanced data visualizations, build dashboards, and export or publish visuals to Tableau Public.
Design and deliver interactive lessons using real-world datasets and practical business or social impact scenarios.
Provide hands-on exercises that allow students to build databases, write SQL queries, analyze data, and present insights visually.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback on database design, analytical reasoning, SQL skills, and visualization outputs.
Collaborate with SFA’s teaching team to align lessons with program objectives and learning outcomes.
Stay up to date with trends and advancements in PostgreSQL, Tableau, data analytics, and business intelligence tools.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence.
Strong experience in data analysis, database management, and business intelligence tools, especially PostgreSQL, Tableau, Excel, SQL, and preferably Python or Power BI.
Ability to teach database concepts, SQL queries, data processing, and visualization clearly to students with varied backgrounds.
Teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience, particularly with high school or university students, is a plus.
Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom facilitation skills.
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into practical, student-friendly lessons.
Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively in a part-time teaching role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
