Position Summary

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the organization’s public relations and communications strategy to enhance brand reputation, visibility, and stakeholder trust. The role ensures consistent, accurate, and compelling messaging across media, partners, and the public, while safeguarding the organization’s image and credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations Strategy & Media Relations

    • Develop and implement public relations strategies aligned with SFA’s mission and strategic goals
    • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers
    • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media statements, and talking points

 

Brand & Reputation Management

    • Ensure consistent and accurate messaging across all external communications
    • Monitor media coverage and public perception of SFA Cameroon
    • Support crisis communication planning and response when necessary

 

Content Development & Storytelling

    • Develop compelling content including feature stories, op-eds, newsletters, and impact highlights
    • Collaborate with programs and development teams to capture success stories and data
    • Support messaging for campaigns, reports, and public events

 

Digital & External Communications

    • Coordinate PR messaging across digital platforms, including websites and social media
    • Support online reputation management and visibility efforts
    • Work with partners to amplify SFA campaigns and initiatives

 

Stakeholder Engagement

    • Support external engagement with donors, partners, and community stakeholders
    • Represent SFA Cameroon at events, conferences, and public forums as required

Required Qualifications

Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field

Experience

    • Up to 3 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or media relations
    • Demonstrated experience securing media coverage and managing PR campaigns
    • Experience in nonprofit, NGO, or mission-driven organizations preferred

Languages

    • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required
    • Knowledge of additional languages is an asset
