For many young people in Douala, financial barriers continue to limit access to the education and digital skills needed to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. This summer, 165 students are beginning a new journey at the Thrive Center in Douala, Cameroon, one that provides free access to practical learning, workforce skills, and a supportive community committed to helping every learner succeed.
Striving For All has officially launched its 2026 Summer Program at the Thrive Center in Douala, Cameroon, marking the sixth program session since the center opened in June 2023.
The launch represents another milestone in Striving For All’s commitment to expanding access to transformative education and equipping underserved youth with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Building Opportunity Through Education
The opening ceremony brought together students, parents, instructors, volunteers, and members of the Striving For All team to celebrate the beginning of a new season of learning.
For many participants, the program represents more than a summer activity. It is an opportunity to develop practical skills, explore future careers, strengthen self-confidence, and become part of a learning community that believes in their potential.
Parents also joined the celebration, demonstrating the trust families continue to place in the Thrive Center and reinforcing the important role they play in supporting their children’s education.
Future-Ready Learning
Throughout the summer, students will participate in instructor-led, hands-on learning designed to strengthen their digital skills, communication, career readiness, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
The curriculum combines technology education, digital literacy, career preparation, English communication, and environmental leadership to help students build the knowledge and confidence needed for future academic and professional opportunities.
By emphasizing practical, project-based learning, the program encourages students to apply their skills, think creatively, collaborate with their peers, and develop solutions to real-world challenges.
With the launch complete, students have officially begun their summer learning journey at the Thrive Center, where they will spend the coming weeks developing practical skills, building confidence, and preparing for future opportunities.
Expanding Access to Education
Since opening in June 2023, the Thrive Center has continued expanding access to practical, future-focused education for underserved youth in Douala.
Now entering its sixth program session, the center has become a trusted community hub where young people can develop digital literacy, career readiness, leadership, and technical skills in an inclusive learning environment.
Welcoming 165 students this summer reflects not only growing participation but also the continued confidence that families place in the Thrive Center and its educational programs.
Why Accessible Education Matters
Across Cameroon, many young people face financial barriers that limit access to educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.
By offering every program free of charge, Striving For All removes one of the most significant obstacles preventing students from acquiring practical skills and exploring new opportunities.
By expanding access to technology education, career readiness, and digital skills, the program strengthens not only individual learners but also families, communities, and the future workforce.
Parents as Partners
One of the most meaningful moments of the launch was the active participation of parents
Many attended to meet instructors, learn about the program, and celebrate the beginning of their children’s educational journey.
Their presence reflects a shared commitment to student success and reminds us that meaningful youth development happens when educators, families, and communities work together.

Looking Ahead
