This year, two teams of young innovators from Striving For All’s Thrive Center represented Cameroon in the Technovation Girls global competition, and both reached the semifinals.
They were among 118 young people who completed the Thrive Center’s sixth training session, building practical skills in technology, career readiness, language, leadership, and innovation.
On August 15, 2026, Striving For All celebrated the close of the session. For many of these learners, it marks the beginning of what comes next.
Building Skills for the Future
For many young people in Douala, access to computer classes, coding courses, professional certifications, and other career-building opportunities can be limited by cost and availability. The Thrive Center helps reduce those barriers by bringing practical, future-ready learning opportunities closer to the communities we serve.
The sixth session offered programs across four tracks:
Technology
Artificial Intelligence with Python, Web Development, Data Analysis, and Mobile Apps with MIT App Inventor
Career readiness
Microsoft Office, Salesforce Academy, and Ignite Your Career
Language
English as a Second Language
Leadership
Girls in Tech and Green Warriors
Progress and Outcomes
Among the 118 students who completed the program, 92 earned one or more certificates, with 133 certificates awarded in total. Because learners could participate in multiple programs or modules, some students earned more than one certificate.
Where the Skills Lead
For the session’s Technovation Girls participants, those skills reached a global stage. Competing for Cameroon in the 2026 competition, two SFA teams advanced to the semifinals, showing what happens when young people have access to technology, mentorship, and the chance to build solutions of their own.
For some learners, the cycle has already opened the next door. Mboumange Nathalie secured a professional opportunity. Tsafack Loïc was admitted to a renowned technology university in France to continue his studies. Dinou Jordan was named a Sykoti Ambassador, taking on a role in youth engagement and representation.
These individual outcomes show how access to practical learning can lead to opportunities beyond the classroom and help young people take meaningful next steps in education, work, and leadership.
Why It Matters
Digital and professional skills are increasingly important for higher education and employment in Cameroon and around the world. When young people can build those skills close to home, cost and access should not determine who gets the opportunity to learn, compete, and pursue what comes next.
For Striving For All, that is the purpose behind the Thrive Center: creating a place where young people can learn, build, and thrive.
Celebrating Together
The summer closing ceremony brought together approximately 230 students, parents, educators, guests, and Striving For All team members, including more than 40 parents. Learners presented their projects, shared what they had learned, and celebrated their progress with the people who supported them.
This work is possible because of shared commitment. We are deeply grateful to our partner schools, Joss High School and Government Bilingual High School New-Bell, for trusting Striving For All with their students and supporting their learning journey. A special thank you to Government Bilingual High School New-Bell for hosting our summer closing ceremony, and to its Principal, Mrs. Epey Jackeline, together with the school’s administrators, teachers, and staff, whose welcome and hard work made the day possible.
We are also grateful to our partner Technovation, and to the donors, instructors, mentors, volunteers, interns, families, and supporters whose contributions help make these opportunities possible.
Looking Ahead
The closing ceremony marked the end of one training session, but not the end of the journey. Striving For All will continue creating opportunities for young people to develop practical skills, explore technology, strengthen their confidence, and prepare for education and career pathways.
For the students who completed this session, the skills they gained are a foundation for what comes next.
